Temple Grandin
Temple Grandin is a person who achieved great things she really is an intelligent woman. She was born on August 29, 1947 in Boston Massachussets. What makes her story more than interesting is that she has autism. Even with this disability she made outstanding contributions in her field of study. Autism makes people different and affects them differently. For Grandin, she was very antisocial and highly logical. She was not comfortable in loud places or being touched. Throughout her life she had only two close friends being her high school science teacher Professor Carlock and her college roommate who was blind. Grandin has not had a relationship in her life or had children her autism keeps her from experiencing or understand feelings.
Even with her mental disability Grandin accomplished admirable things as a scholar. She has a bachelors degree in psychology, and a doctoral degree in animal science. With her knowledge of animal she create a system to walk cattle by observing behavior of cattle. It is because of her autism that she saw how cattle move and reacted. Her elaborate system made cattle feel safe and comfortable. Grandin created a machine to make her feel safe and secure it was called The Hug Machine. She at times got very uncomfortable, this machine made her feel safe and calmed her down. During High School her science teacher told her a door leads to new opportunities and she took it very literal she strongly believed any door had a new opportunity. She has written books on cattle behavior and autism both topics she strongly knows of. Grandin can also be labeled as an inventor she created a machine to comfort her and a way to humanely treat cattle. Temple Grandin currently is a professor of animal science in Colorado State University.
When you see obstacles as opportunities their is no stopping you. When you learn from those experiences you're untouchable and you can achieve anything.
